Remodelling FAQs

Questions people ask before remodelling their home.

What's the difference between remodelling and renovating?

Renovation usually restores or refreshes what's there, while remodelling changes the layout or function of a space, such as moving a kitchen, combining rooms or creating a new bathroom. Many projects combine both.

Do I need planning permission to remodel inside my house?

Internal changes to a house usually don't need planning permission, but listed buildings do need consent. Structural changes, new drainage and some electrical work need Building Regulations approval.

Can I remodel a flat?

Yes, but check your lease first. Many leases require the freeholder's consent for structural changes, new wet rooms or hard flooring. We can work to the conditions your building sets.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

A typical kitchen remodel takes several weeks on site, depending on structural work, services and the kitchen supplier's lead times. We'll give you a programme.

Can you move my bathroom to another room?

Often, yes. The main constraint is getting waste pipes to the soil stack with the right fall. We'll check routes before you commit.

Do you supply kitchens and bathrooms?

We can fit a kitchen or sanitaryware you've chosen, or include them in our quote. Either way, we'll co-ordinate measurements and deliveries.

Can we live at home during a remodel?

Usually, yes, with some planning. We'll help you set up a temporary kitchen or phase the work so you keep a working bathroom.

How do you price a remodel?

We price from a defined scope, with clear allowances for items you're still choosing. Any changes are agreed in writing before they go ahead.

Are you insured?

We’ll send our insurance certificates on request before your remodel is scheduled, and we recommend checking them alongside the written quote.
